Frequently asked questions

What are monthly membership rates?...

Do I pay monthly?...

You may pay monthly, semi-annually, or annually.

What if I need labs?...

With your annual physical you will get the following screening tests: lipid, thyroid, kidney and liver function (CMP), diabetes (A1c) and blood counts (CBC). Men over 50, a PSA is included. Additional testing when necessary can be done at our deeply discounted rate with Quest or LabCorp, or you can use traditional insurance or Medicare to cover those labs. Many insurance companies cover annual screening labs at full cost. Under those circumstances, Lab Corp or Quest will bill your insurance.

What if I need a specialist?...

We will work with local independent specialists as well as hospital affiliated/employed specialists. If you already have relationships, we will certainly continue to augment that care and communicate freely with those specialists.

What if I need imaging?...

Imaging can be done at the location of your choice. Priority Radiology and High Field Open MRI offer great rates for all their patients. Alternatively, you may use traditional insurance or your Medicare at any facility in town.

Do you manage chronic pain?...

When appropriate we can help with long term pain control. When regular narcotics are used, a pain specialist will likely need to be involved. Any acute injury will be treated appropriately. No pain medication will be dispensed at the first visit unless adequate documentation is available.

Do I still need insurance?...

Yes. Insurance is necessary for catastrophic illness or hospitalizations, screening procedures like colonoscopies, surgeries, and specialists to name a few. We hope to take care of the majority of your needs through our practice at affordable monthly rates. We can give you contact information for local insurance agents who understand the benefit of this model for further recommendations. There are also several non-insurance cost savings plans both faith and non-faith based that are great options for people without the option of a high priced PPO, which is arguably just a high priced catastrophic plan anyway. In addition to traditional insurance, there are faith based and non-faith based, voluntary, healthcare cost-sharing ministries that are acceptable options to meet the individual mandate for health cost coverage in the Affordable Care Act. They include Liberty HealthShare, www.LibertyDirect.org (855) 585-5237, Samaritan Ministries, www.SamaritanMinistries.org (888) 268-4377, Christian Care Ministry www.MyChristianCare.org (800) 772-5623, and Christian Healthcare Ministries, www.chministries.org (800) 791-6225.

Is this tax deductible?...

Some very specific medical expenses are tax deductible, however the one-time enrollment fee and membership fee are not. We suggest talking with your financial advisor to discuss options to potentially setup and fund an HSA to cover monthly membership fees.

Is this a good option for an employer?...

Our program is ideal for self insured companies or for smaller companies who want to appeal to good employees who have trouble offering traditional insurance plans. Please call Dr. Kindig for advice. Many local employers provide DPC clinics on site to their employees. Why can't you? Dr. Kindig would be glad to speak with any CFO or CEO regarding this option. You can actually answer the question yourself. Compare CPT codes from prior years to our predictable $50/month rate. Your bottom line will thank you. Telemedicine and access to quick treatment reduce absenteeism and improve job performance.
